Several of us who own 1909-1927 Model T Ford vehicles...and/or are are interested in their history and lore are planning an organizational meeting to determine if there is enough interest here in Vermont to form a local chapter of the Model T Ford Club of America! You don't need to own an antique car to be part of this organization, all you need in a strong interest in learning about Henry Ford and his cars. The Model T Ford was the car that put America on wheels and changed our culture forever. Henry Ford was very innovative and is credited with inventing the modern assembly line....among other firsts! He was a controversial figure to be sure....and that is part of what makes the history of his company and vehicles so interesting. For more information about this initial meeting to be held here in Addison County Sunday afternoon the 26th, please contact me directly.
Full disclosure, my grandfather was a Ford dealer before World War One. His stories so inspired me that my first car was a 1926 Model T Coupe. Back in the 60's that wasn't a particularly great vehicle for dating and my brother wooed away my girlfriend with his red '55 Ford convertible. I've since forgiven him, but I 'm here to tell you that when the Model T bug bites...it...is...forever! All I ever really needed to know about how automobiles work was learned on my Model T. The components have become become more complex, but the fundamentals are EXACTLY the same....for over 110 years! Come join in the fun!
