Dr. Moyer holds a doctorate in organ performance and church music from Eastman School of Music.
He has issued a CD partly recorded on the 1865 Hook pipe organ in First Congregational Church, Orwell, VT. During the Fair Haven program he will play four pieces based on familiar hymn tunes, one of them being "We Three Kings of Orient Are." Both text and tune of this work are by John Henry Hopkins, Jr., whose father was the first Episcopal Bishop of Vermont.
The program will open and close with works of JS Bach. The final offering will be Bach's gigantic Fantasie and Fugue in G minor. Although the piece was written for a large organ in Germany, it succeeds well on the Fair Haven organ, which despite its smaller size has the essentials needed to project Bach's music.
