Weatherizing your home can help reduce heating and cooling costs and cut back on carbon emissions. Air-sourced heat pumps are also an electrically-efficient and money-saving way to heat and cool your home. With heating fuel costs steadily rising, now is an excellent time to take advantage of the incentives offered by different programs in the Essex area. Weatherization in combination with heat pump installation can not only save you money but also increase the comfort level of your home.
Saturday, June 18th from 7:30 AM – 1:30 PM The Essex Energy Committee will be at Lowes in Essex, 10 Susie Wilson Road. Stop by and learn about all of the rebates and incentives for weatherization (contractor- and DIY projects) as well as rebates on air-sourced heat pumps. We will also have a contractor (Brian Gray from the Energy Coop of Vermont) in attendance who will be happy to answer questions about your home's needs.
How do I know if I am eligible for weatherization and heat pump financial assistance?
Any homeowner or tenant is eligible for some form of financial assistance from the various energy efficient utilities in this area. This includes Efficiency Vermont (EVT), Vermont Gas Systems (VGS), and the Champlain Valley of Economic Opportunity (CVOEO). We will have all of the critical information to help guide you toward the best opportunities available.
Why now?
• Incentives are excellent and some home weatherization and energy efficient upgrades are free to income-eligible households
• Contractor availability is limited but better than in the fall when project demand is higher and wait times are longer
• Installation of a heat pump now will provide you with cool air conditioning this summer and supplemental heat in the winter
• Many of these DIY projects are easy and qualify for rebates on materials used, which can be purchased from local hardware stores.
Be wise and weatherize now! Keep your home warmer in winter and cooler in summer! Learn more at our event on June 18th!!
