The June meeting of the Guilford Conservation Commission will be a work session on the Carriage Trail in the Weeks Forest. We will focus on removing invasive plants and a few other tasks to keep the trail safe and open for walking. The public is invited to join the work team at the trail head off Carpenter Road at 5:30. We will provide brief instruction on how to identify and best remove the various invasive plants we encounter. We will observe covid protocols for outdoor work - distancing when possible, and you are welcome to bring a mask.
If you come, please bring any of the following that you have on hand
--leather work gloves (for pulling thorny invasives)
--small shovels (for loosening soil around invasives), digging spades, forks
--insect repellant, water, hats if sunny
--long pants and socks (there's lots of poison ivy near the beginning of the trail and some near the end)
--large paper lawn bags for invasives that need to be hauled out
--weed whacker
