The Humanist Being Street Epistemology and Philosophy

Past event
Jun 20, 2022, 7 to 8:30 PM

The Humanist Being's Street Epistemology and Philosophy group.

We are currently studying Street Epistemology based upon the book "How to Have Impossible Conversations" by Dr.s Peter Boghossian and James Lindsay.

Most of us have beliefs which we took on as kids because we were told they were true. We learned these beliefs before we were old enough to have critical thinking skills. Most of us have also never reassessed these beliefs. Well now we have a method to do that.

Street Epistemology is based upon the Socratic method of asking questions. Epistemology asks "why you believe", not what you believe. It is a gentle and cooperative journey that is voluntary.

We also are talking about Critical Thinking skills. What are they. How do we teach them and how do we use them without looking like stuck up, erudite, jerks.

Come join us at the Deborah Rawson Library in Jericho on Monday, June 20th from 7pm to 8:30 pm.

The Deborah Rawson Library is requiring all participants to wear masks while inside.
