Dear Friends & Neighbors,

Over the last several years we have been working with the Town of Middlebury, the Town of Cornwall, Middlebury College and VTrans to address safety issues along the Rt. 125 corridor heading west from the College. This stretch of road is fraught with safety issues and we greatly appreciate the State's attention to this treacherous section of road. As many of us know too well, the first knoll headed west from the College has played a roll in the tragic deaths of four neighbors in the last twenty years. In the last four years alone, I have personally witnessed two near death collisions between vehicles and pedestrians at this very spot. These incidents have been filed with VTrans. Sadly, time and experience have shown that it is only a matter of time before another tragic accident happens on this site and it is incumbent on all of us to do everything we can to make sure there is no more loss of life. I will sadly be unable to attend the Rt. 125 Safety Improvement meeting at the Cornwall Town Hall on June 16th (7:00pm), but I hope that many of you will consider going and voicing your concerns about this deadly section of road and your support for safety changes.
