Itai Gal (they/he) Itai Gal composes and leads music for Jewish prayer. He draws upon the poetry of Jewish liturgy and renews it with upbeat, soulful music and translations that bring these ancient words relatable meaning, as it is said: "Turn it and turn it, for everything is within it." (Pirkei Avot 5) Itai released one album, Arise, which you can find on all online music platforms under the name Itai and the Ophanim, the band that they assembled for this album. The Ophanim are Jewish mythical beasts, the wheels within wheels in Ezekiel's vision, which has been a source of their inspiration. Outside of this project, Itai plays keyboard in a funky party band called Sugar Supreme, who will be performing around the Southern Vermont music scene this summer, and a jam band that is just getting started. itaiandtheophanim.bandcamp.com
