Greetings Barre City (and surrounds)!
This weekend, there are several events happening in Barre City to celebrate *Pride Month and support LGBTQ+ neighbors in our community: Bake, Buy, Bike, Boogie, and more! All are welcome to attend and participate in one, or more, or all of the following:
1. Baked with Love! – A Barre Sweet Community Bake Sale and Gathering
9:00am to 2:00pm
City Hall Park - It's back in a new location - bigger, better, and sweeter than last year!
• Organized by Ericka Reil and Lisa Liotta, for info: email Lisa at lisacliotta@gmail.com or call Ericka at 802-839-9504
- Bakers! - your sweet (or savory) tasty treats are wanted! Gluten, sugar, and dairy-free treats are welcome and appreciated for those with allergies. Donate individually wrapped, homemade (or locally purchased) goodies starting at 8:30am until 12:00pm - earlier drop-off is better to allow for maximum donations. (If you would like to provide baked goods but can't drop-off Saturday, please email Lisa at lisacliotta@gmail.com to make special Friday drop-off arrangements).
- Buyers! All community provided treats are available on a donation basis - last year, your donations raised $400 to benefit trans programs at the Pride Center of Vermont!
- All donations this year will go to SafeSpace, the Pride Center of Vermont's anti-violence program that works to transform harm with and for LGBTQ+ Vermonters, in memory of Fern Feather. Learn about SafeSpace here: https://www.pridecentervt.org/safespace/ and learn about Fern Feather here: www.montpelierbridge.org/2022/04/friends-mourn-fern-feather/

*About Pride Month:
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Pride Month is currently celebrated each year in the month of June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan. The Stonewall Uprising was a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States. In the United States the last Sunday in June was initially celebrated as "Gay Pride Day," but the actual day was flexible. In major cities across the nation the "day" soon grew to encompass a month-long series of events. Today, celebrations include pride parades, picnics, parties, workshops, symposia and concerts, and LGBTQ Pride Month events attract millions of participants around the world.
