Jul 25, 2022, 7 to 8 PM

Vermont Studio Center will host a Visiting Writer Reading with Maud Casey, as a part of the Visiting Writer Program. On Monday, July 25, 2022, 7:00 – 8:00 PM, the reading will take place in the Red Mill Building in Johnson, VT. This event is free and open to the public.

Of Casey's most recent novel: "City of Incurable Women is a brilliant exploration of the type of female bodily and psychic pain once commonly diagnosed as hysteria—and the curiously hysterical response to it commonly exhibited by medical men. It is a novel of powerful originality, riveting historical interest, and haunting lyrical beauty." —Sigrid Nunez, author of The Friend and What Are You Going Through

Maud Casey is the author of five books of fiction, most recently City of Incurable Women, and a work of nonfiction, The Art of Mystery: The Search for Questions. She is the recipient of the Italo Calvino Prize, the St. Francis College Literary Prize, and a Guggenheim Fellowship. Her essays and book reviews have appeared in The New York Times Book Review, Washington Post Book World, Salon, Poets and Writers, A Public Space, and Literary Imagination.
