Wed. June 18 at 7 pm: Poetry For June at Jeudevine

Three local poets will help bring in summer with a poetry reading at the Jeudevine Memorial Library on Wed. June 18 at 7 pm. The poets are Martha Zweig, Phyllis Larrabee and Rick Eschholz. Each poet will read for 20 minutes. There will be light refreshments.

Martha Zweig is a Hardwick resident and the author of three books of poetry. Her poems have appeared in literary journals and magazines including The Beloit Poetry Journal, Boston Review, Conduit, Field, Gettysburg Review, Indiana Review, The Journal, The Kenyon Review, Literary Imagination, Manoa, Notre Dame Review, New Orleans Review, The North American Review, Northwest Review, Paris Review, The Progressive, Willow Springs.

Phyllis Larrabee is a playwright, poet and grandmother. Her most recent book of poems is Shoveler on the Roof. Her first collection of poetry came out in 1974. Since then she has had 27 collections of poetry produced and a number of plays. She won an award in 1980 from the Vermont Academy of Arts and Science. In recognition of her latest book, Larrabee was the first recipient of the Grace Paley Scholarship Fund for Vermont Writers.

They will be joined by newcomer to the world of poetry, Dr. Rick Eschholz who is known in the Hardwick area for his work at Hardwick Chiropractic.Rick enjoys writing and speaking about wellness and personal growth. He is continually exploring new developments in chiropractic through his work with Bio-Geometric Integration. He has taken up poetry and has been a hit at the Open Stage for Poets that the library has sponsored.
