We hope you can join us for our free, outdoor concert on Sunday, June 12th, at 2:00 p.m. at the Milton Outdoor Performance Center (band shell) on 31 Park Place in Milton. Please bring a blanket or camp chair to sit on. The choir is comprised of local stroke and traumatic brain injury survivors who have expressive aphasia (difficulty talking or using language) along with spouses, family members, UVM students studying Communication Sciences and Disorders, UVM Medical Center rehabilitation professionals, and community volunteers. Because music is largely mediated by the undamaged hemispheres of the brains of people with aphasia, they can sing and are often fluent while singing even if they have severe difficulty speaking or are nonverbal. With the exception of 2020 and 2021, the Aphasia Choir has been going strong and having a ball since 2014. Come enjoy this inspiring musical event and learn more about aphasia!
