If Grass Could Talk with Sid Bosworth - Bixby Library

Past event
Jun 23, 2022, 6 to 7 PM

The humble grass family, Poaceae, has much more impact on our daily lives than we may recognize or appreciate. This interactive presentation will focus on those common grasses we deal with every day (whether trampling on them, mowing them, eating them or driving by them). Learn why grasses are important, how to recognize them, their importance to our food system, and their impact on our environment and wildlife. There will be a living display for identification and you will also learn about non-grass plants found in grasslands and their importance for soil health and pollinators.

Speaker: Sid Bosworth is a retired Extension Professor from the University of Vermont. He served as an Extension Agronomist in Vermont for over 30 years and focused most of his research and outreach programs on the management of forage crops (hay, pasture, corn) used for dairy and livestock production. He taught agronomy courses at UVM for over 20 years. Sid and his family have lived in Vergennes for over thirty years.

Attending in person? Seating will be set up in the Bixby Hall and available on a first come first serve basis.
