My guests this month will be the duo of Richard Ruane and Beth Duquette. Richard Ruane and Beth Duquette perform original music with a strong foundation in the traditional music of America and the British Isles. They are known for their “finely written songs, with wonderful vocal performances, and solid instrumental backing” (Oliver di Place, Musings on Music). Of course a foundation doesn’t limit what comes next and Ruane and Duquette’s songs take interesting turns and end up in unexpected places.

With their vocal blend, which has drawn comparisons to sibling harmony groups, they swap off on lead, harmony and full duets based on the needs of the songs. Ruane provides the instrumental backbone, playing guitar, mandolin, ukulele and banjo.

Derek has hosted Songwriters in the Round since 2011 and is a singer/songwriter from Jericho, VT. With fluid guitar and banjo underlying an authentic and emotive voice, his songs are thoughtful stories about powerful moments in life: love, family, and home. His most recent album is “Ten Years and 29 Days.”
