May 23, 2022, 7 to 11 PM

Dear Neighbors,

This coming Monday, the City Council will convene its second of two meetings for the month of May.

You are welcome to attend the Council meeting in person at Contois Auditorium OR Remotely via ZOOM at the following link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87950522072
• or by phone 1 929 205 6099 Webinar ID: 879 5052 2072
• You can also join us via Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLljLFn4BZd2PwCge7lNoKug676jIf_iUA
• You can sign up for public forum via this link: https://www.burlingtonvt.gov/citycouncil/publicforum or in person by completing a sign up form inside Contois.

Our meeting will begin at 6pm with a work session on Memorial Auditorium, ending at 7pm. The purpose of the work session is to review the condition of the building and discuss options going forward. These include effectively mothballing the building, demolition, or exploring one of several other options including public/private partnerships for either the building or the Superblock.

Immediately following, we will have a presentation on the maps our independent mapping specialist has developed as per the Council's request for a 7, 8 and 12 ward map in line with our guiding priorities which include maintaining the integrity of the New North End to the greatest extent possible, eliminating the current Ward 8 configuration and honoring neighborhoods as is most possible given the census blocks that we must respect.

After public forum that begins at 7:30pm, I expect that the Council will continue the discussion of the redistricting maps.

I would encourage you to check out the redistricting maps on board docs at http://www.boarddocs.com/vt/burlingtonvt/Board.nsf/Public. Once on board docs, go to "Meetings" at the top of the screen and then to the May 23 meeting on the left side of your screen. This and all other agenda items are listed with supporting documents. There are changes to Ward 6 in the proposed maps; again, I would encourage you to take a look at these maps on board docs. In addition, you can view the maps by

After the discussion on the maps, our deliberative agenda also includes:

• A vote on the Main Street Concept design contract which was discussed at our May 9 meeting.
• We have one resolution on our agenda regarding enforcement of the Bed and Breakfast permit requirement and suspending all new permits from being issued. This is in response to the issue of Short-term Rentals. Currently these rentals must have a Bed and Breakfast permit but often the permit is not enforced. As well, the resolution would suspend any new permits from being issued.

As always, I welcome your questions, concerns, and comments, so please be in touch. Your voice matters and I am grateful for your input.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

My best,
Karen
