Join us at the Bent Northrop Memorial Library in Fairfield on Tuesday, May 24th at 6:30pm for a very special presentation by Karen McFeeters Leary, M.Ed., retired medical Speech-Language Pathologist, Singer/Songwriter, and Founder & Director of the Aphasia Choir of Vermont!
Aphasia is a language disorder commonly caused by stroke or traumatic brain injury. Because music is mediated by the undamaged hemispheres of the brains of people with aphasia, they can sing even if they have severe difficulty speaking or are nonverbal. Learn more about aphasia and how Vermont's first and only Aphasia Choir brings individuals together in song and enables them to experience freedom of expression and a sense of belonging.
