Please join us this Sunday (May 22nd), from 6:30-8:00 pm, at the Village Meeting House (ground floor of Waitsfield Church), for the monthly meeting of the Mad River Valley Anti-Racism Initiative (MRVARI).
At MRVARI, we're committed to understanding the root causes of racial inequity in our community and in the world, and in discovering ways to respond, repair, and deepen understanding.
Anti-racism work can be tricky for those of us who are white, as we've received a lifetime of tacit messages, indicating polite silence as a viable solution -- which of course it's not! The more we learn, the more we realize that the problems are actually much more systemic (i.e., woven into the systems of our culture).
There are MANY ways to help, even if the topic seems jarring or uncomfortable. You won't be told what to do, but you will be invited to become curious, and to join us in an empowering learning curve, including identifying concrete ways that you can help.
Vaccination and masking are encouraged. We sure hope to see you there!
