Ash Trees and Emerald Ash Borer

Past event
May 24, 2022, 6:30 to 7:30 PM

Ash trees are a prominent part of our landscape. And no wonder -- there are over 160 million of them in Vermont! Unfortunately, these lovely trees are under attack by an invasive pest, the emerald ash borer (EAB). This insect was first discovered in the U.S. in 2002, and soon destroyed over 100 million ash trees in the Midwest. EAB was confirmed in Vermont in 2018 and there are now confirmed infestations throughout the state. Unless treated with insecticides, most infested trees die within 3 to 5 years.

You can help "Slow the Spread". May 22 – 28 is Emerald Ash Borer Awareness Week. Join me on Zoom on 5/24 to learn:
• To identify ash trees and the signs and symptoms of EAB
• About the threat posed to ash trees by EAB
• How to report suspicious trees online
• How to help our communities prepare to deal with an infestation
