Last year we all made a good start to our poison parsnip eradication efforts down by Cota Field and the Creekside Trail. We'll be continuing this year and invite everyone to help. Meet us at the Cota Field parking lot (corner of States Prison Hollow Rd. and 116) a bit before 7pm next Tuesday, May 24. Wear long sleeves, long pants, and gloves, and be prepared to encounter ticks. Bring a shovel with as sharp an edge as possible. We may have extra Predator Shovels to lend, but our order this year may not have arrived quite yet. Those who did it last year, will be glad to teach new people. This is a great way to learn a fast way to get rid of these plants on your own land. It's not strenuous. We break the root just under the crown, then lift the plant and lay it on the ground. We plan to do this once a week until early July. Watch for announcements because we may vary the day of the week.
Let me know if you have questions. Margi Gregory
