Hello Everyone!
My name is Chloe Silverman, and I am a senior at CVU. Fueled by experiences of my own, my friends, loved ones, and all in all the general atmosphere of our society, I am once again holding a "Take Back the Night'' event at CVU. Last year's event was hugely successful (attendance of 150+) and feedback was so positive that we've decided to make this a tradition!
Take Back the Night is an international organization that works to spread awareness about sexual violence, and end all sorts of sexual violence, abuse, harassment, etc... "Take Back the Night" is the earliest worldwide effort to combat sexual violence. This particular event consists of a march/walk, keynote speakers, an open mic, and a candlelight vigil. An ESPECIALLY exciting new addition is that the opening remarks will be given virtually by the founder Katie Koestner. The goal is to unite ALL people around the above mission to end sexual violence: it's time to take back our nights, and our right to feel safe.
The event is open to the public. A raffle with all proceeds to the foundation will have local prizes, as well as five signed "Times News" copies of Katie's groundbreaking publication. The more people that can come, the greater the impact. :)
The starting location will be near the baseball fields of CVU, and the event will start at 5:45 and go until around dark. Spread the word! Glow Sticks and candles will be provided…
Feel free to reach out with any questions!
