Climb Out of the Darkness (Pregnant/Postpartum/New Fam)

Past event
Jun 11, 2022, 10 AM to 12 PM

I want to let the community know about an event on June 11—the Climb out of the Darkness—in case you know anyone who would benefit from coming, you can pass this along. The Climb is a gathering to support and honor parents who have struggled with mental health/sadness/anxiety and other concerns, during or in the weeks after giving birth, adopting or fostering. Our culture tells parents they must be happy at those times, but 1 in 7 women struggle, 1 in 10 fathers. For women of color, it is 1 in 5, who experience mood and anxiety disorders during pregnancy or after birth or adoption. Often known as postpartum depression (but sometimes more complicated). Many begin the parenting journey feeling broken, afraid and embarrassed…they survive, through time, support, and hard work – to find healing, new strength, and connection. The Climb out of the Darkness is a place to connect with other parents with this experience and find support. This is an international event taking place in locations all over the world in June. It takes place in Rutland at the same time as Building Bright Futures "Just Play No Way", a family event celebrating play. There will be activities for kids, music, and the Climb (a short hike together to honor parents). The details: Saturday, June 11, 10 to 12 at Giorgetti Park/ Pine Hill in Rutland. For more information or to register, please visit these two places, and/or email this community member. https://climbout2022.causevox.com/team/team-rutland https://www.facebook.com/COTDRutland
