The MCL is a hive of activity these days. We know how busy you are, and we thank you for making the Library part of your busy spring schedules.
Here's what's coming up in in Youth Services:
Saturday, May 21st, 2 PM: Taconic Music Presents Strings for Kids: A Family Concert
in the Children's Library.
Welcome back, Taconic Music! Families, come listen to the beauty of strings as teachers and students share their musical gifts.
Every Tuesday, 10:30 AM: Fresh Air Story Time
Preschoolers and families: Join us on the back patio (or just inside the doors, in the Hunter Room, in wet weather) for stories, rhymes, songs and activities with weekly themes.
Tuesday, May 24th: Fresh Air Story Time Special: Gardens, with Sandra Magsamen.
Join renowned author and Hiland Hall Board member Sandra Magsamen for a special Story Time reading of her work, all about gardens, followed by a planting activity.
Friday, May 27th, 6 PM: Family Movie Night.
Let's go to the movies! Register via our website. If we get SIX registrations by 5/26, we'll roll out the BIG screen and start popping the popcorn. Our movie licensure agreement doesn't allow us to name the movie title, but we hope you will make a HEROic effort to join us.
Tuesday, May 31st, 3:30 PM: Teen Advisory Board Meeting
Are you in grades 6-12? Want to be part of the future of library offerings for people your age? Come add your voices; we need your input.
Every Wednesday, 3:30-5:30 PM, Teen Loft: Wildcard Wednesdays
Teens 12-18, enjoy after-school snacks, games and maker projects in the Loft.
Saturdays, 10:30-12:30: S.T.E.A.M. Saturdays
Kids and parents: stop by the library on most Saturday mornings to create and innovate. Try the suggested project for the week, or use supplies to craft something cool from your own imagination. Please note that there will be no S.T.E.A.M. Saturday on May 21st, June 4th, or June 11th, due to special events.
Plan Ahead:
School's out pretty soon. What'll you do with your free time? In June, look for our brochure, and get ready to surf the excellent events and sail through some epic reads this summer, all part of Oceans of Possibilities: Summer Reading Program 2022.
As one of the Vermont libraries participating in this national program, we'll offer our Summer Reading Challenge for kids and teens ages 0-18 (earn prizes for reading!) and a wondrous, water-themed schedule of Tent Events to entertain all ages.
See a magic show. Meet a python in person. Paint and create. We want to help you enjoy your summer to the fullest, while also nourishing your mind with lots of great books.
Stay tuned for more information in June.
