"Going up the Country" by Yvonne Daley is part oral history, part nostalgia, and part analysis of the many-faceted phenomenon referred to as the "counter-culture" movement in Vermont. Drawing from this book, Daley speaks on Sunday, May 15th at 2 O'Clock in the Community Steel Room, hosted by the Friends of the Waterbury Public Library. Her talk "The Counterculture's Impact on Vermont and Vermont's Influence on the Counterculture Generation" is a fascinating account of the stories of native Vermont and flatlander alike and how we all make a difference when we work together for positive change. We need that message of hope today more than ever!
Over a 40-year career, Yvonne Daley has published more than 5,000 news, feature and magazine articles in the Boston Globe, Vermont Life, Washington Post, Rutland Herald and dozens of other publications along with six nonfiction books. She is a professor of journalism, Director of the Green Mountain Writer's Conference, and lives in Rutland, Vermont, with her husband.
