Michele Braun, director of Friends of the Winooski, was excited for the focus on resilience after the devastation of Tropical Storm Irene in 2011. But we have a long ways to go to show we've learned the lessons of Irene.

Each spring, we have a new chance to support bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. No-mow May is a campaign to encourage people not to mow this month. Emily Lanxner of the Mobilization for Pollinator Survival will talk about what individuals can do—and what the legislature can do to protect pollinators.
Making use of the strengths of new Vermonters builds another type of resilience, and telling their stories helps them and the rest of the community understand where they're coming from—literally. Julia Doucet is a co-author of the new Vermont Reads selection, The Most Costly Journey, about migrant workers' journey to Vermont.
