Understanding the War in Ukraine from personal and political viewpoints: a talk with Vermont residents Elena and Kevin Spensley at the First Congregational Church of Essex Junction.

Elena grew up in Odessa, speaking both Russian and Ukrainian. She came to the United States in the 1990s after the fall of the Soviet Union. and is an HR professional. Elena's mother and extended family still live in Ukraine. Kevin works in international education for an organization with strong ties in Central Europe including Ukraine. He has lived and worked in Ukraine and Russia, speaks Russian, and has a Master's Degree in Slavic Studies from Boston College.

A question-and-answer session will follow the talk, and a free will offering will be taken to benefit two Odessa-based grassroots humanitarian aid groups. Seating is first-come, first-served, and will begin at 3:30 (masks optional).
