The Geologic History & Hydrology of Lake Champlain with geologist Craig Heindel

Did you know that not long ago, the Champlain Islands were under 400 feet of water? That before Lake Champlain was fresh water, salt water filled the Champlain Valley? There were whales? Learn how present-day Lake Champlain evolved after the most recent Ice Age, a time of massive glaciers and frozen landscapes, alternating dozens of times between periods when the climate was warmer than now. And learn how, long before then, the Champlain Valley fit into the deep geologic history of the North American and European continents. Geologist Craig Heindel will take you on a tour of Lake Champlain's geologic history -- and will forever change the way you understand Vermont's landscape.
