So your once-healthy yard, farmland, forestland, or riparian areas are being overtaken by invasive plants! They create a multitude of problems including harming wildlife habitats and destroying beneficial and native plant life. But what can you do? You can harvest and eat them!
Presented by the Batten Kill CISMA (Comprehensive Invasive Species Management Association) and Vermont Land Trust, join us to learn how to identify, harvest, and discuss edible properties. This workshop will focus on five common invasive plant species found in Vermont: autumn olive, purple loosestrife, Japanese barberry, garlic mustard, and Japanese knotweed. We will conclude the workshop with a taste test of a few different invasive plant dishes!
This event is perfect for anyone, especially beginners, interested in spearheading invasive management on their property or expanding their foraging palate. The first 30 minutes will include a voluntary invasive plant pull, so please be prepared with gloves and dress accordingly.
Space is limited so please pre-register today. To register and for more info visit: https://vlt.org/events/edible-invasive-plants/
