New Toothbrush Exhibition at the Museum of Everyday Life!

Jun 7, 2014, 3 to 8 PM

Our friends at The Museum of Everyday Life announce the opening of a new exhibition, “Toothbrush from Twig to Bristle, in all its Expedient Beauty" on Saturday, June 7th, 2014, from 3-8pm. The Museum is a new venture whose goal is to explore, analyze and celebrate everyday life objects. Its aim is the slow-motion cataloging of life via objects of no monetary value and immense consequence.

This new exhibition offers unique ways of looking at the Toothbrush, including unlikely objects made from toothbrushes, as well as a sampling of toothbrushes from around the world. The newest installment of our famed Visual History series about everyday objects, titled From Prison to Suicide to Cold Climate Hog, recounts the sordid and surprising history of the toothbrush. Also featured are selections from Vermont’s own G. Miller Toothbrush and Dental Accessory Archive of Montpelier, alongside many other toothbrush-related ephemera and oddities.

At the opening day celebration June 7th from 3-8pm, local vaudville revivalists Rose Friedman and Justin Lander will play live music, special guest performers from Toronto will present a short original sound/movement piece inspired by the toothbrush theme, and local animator/filmmaker Meredith Holch will present a new paper movie. Snacks and beverages will be served. Admission by donation.

The Museum of Everyday Life is a self-service museum, open every day from 8am-8pm, and is located at 3482 Dry Pond Rd. (Rt. 16) in Glover, a short distance South of the Shadow Lake Rd. See www.museumofeverydaylife.org for more details or for more information contact Clare Dolan at 802-626-4409.)
