Paddles Up!
Paddling season is upon us. The snow is gone, the lake water is clear, and paddlers are anxious to get back to work. Dragonheart Vermont is a local non-profit organization that empowers breast cancer survivors and supporters through the challenging sport of dragon boating. We join forces with outdoor adventure shop REI to welcome the new paddling season.
On May 14, 2022, Dragonheart Vermont celebrates riding the waves in the REI parking lot at 244 Retail Way in Williston, Vermont. Visitors can learn more about Dragonheart Vermont and dragon boating, try their hand at rowing machines, spin the prize wheel, and collect swag. They can also meet "Debra Blue", a special dragon boat that commemorates the organization's fallen teammates. The event runs from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. All are welcome.
All can register for our summer-long paddling program, or register for our August 7 festival at Waterfront Park in Burlington.
Our summer program begins at the end of May and lasts until September and includes all age groups, fitness levels, and genders. The summer program offers competitive paddling as well as a recreational paddling crew. Our crews practice during the evenings at the Coast Guard boat launch ramp at the Burlington waterfront.
Our annual Lake Champlain Dragon Boat Festival is a community-wide fundraiser that supports local cancer survivors with wellness and support programs each summer to support those struggling with cancer. This year's event will take place on August 7 at Waterfront park in Burlington. All community members are invited to participate in the Festival by entering as teams or individuals.
