Raingardens for Stormwater Runoff
Saturday, May 7, 10-12 (online)
Join Jillian Sarazen, Green Infrastructure Collaborative Coordinator, to learn about raingardens and how they're used to treat stormwater runoff. She will also give you suggestions for installing them on your property, from location, design, and maintenance to what plants to use. EMG-E FREE

Bio: Jill Sarazen is the Green Infrastructure Collaborative Coordinator, a partnership between Lake Champlain Sea Grant and Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation. In this role, she facilitates information exchange between the DEC and external partners to support Vermont's water quality goals.

Rhododendron Cleanup Workday
Saturday, May 7, 1-3 pm. Outside at the Hort Farm
Join the Friends of the Horticulture Farm on this workday and learn about the Hort Farm Rhododendrons. Help us conquer the invasive species as you learn how rhodies survive the northern cold weather, their soil and location recommendations. Bring gloves, tools and your questions. This workday qualifies for EMG—V. FREE

Hort Farm Woodland Walk Eagle Scout Project
Saturday, May 7 and Sunday, May 8, 9 am – 3 pm
Gracie Lawrence is working on her Eagle project - rehabilitating the Woodland Walk trail at the UVM Horticultural farm. Volunteers will be clearing a 1,300 foot long trail to make it ready for visitors on Bloom Time, May 21. There may be ticks and other biting insects. Suggest all volunteers wear long pants, bug spray, sunscreen, and sun hats. Closed toed shoes will be required. If you have work gloves, rakes, saws, or brush cutting tools, please bring them. Please also bring a water bottle and camp chair. Lunch will be provided on Saturday.
