Green Up Day at the Champlain Street Park
When: Sat. 5/7 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM and Sun. 5/8 10:00 AM - whenever
Where: Champlain Street Park (185 S. Champlain St)
Who: You and your King and Maple Neighbors!
What you need: Just yourself, a pair of work gloves, and a good attitude! (hedge clippers if you have a pair). Trash bags will be provided
Hey Neighbors!
The Champlain Street Park (located between King and Maple on S. Champlain St) is an amazing community asset for our neighborhood, serving us as the only publicly accessible green space on our side of downtown. I love the space and have been spending more and more time there as the weather get's nicer; I can only help but think about how much better and more community-friendly the park could become with a little love from many hands.
As part of this, I am trying to organize a Green Up Day clean-up this weekend of the park with the goals of clearing the park of litter and clearing scrub brush from the fence sight lines into the park. With just a few volunteers, we could likely get the work done in just one work day, if not the weekend and leave our park in better shape for the Spring, Summer, and beyond! This Green Up Day is just one part of some community activities myself and a coalition of neighbors are working to put together in the park through the coming year - if you want to get involved, let me know!
