Full Subject: Free Community Lecture-Discussion Series - Neurodiversity, Parenting, Inclusive Education

Brain Club is a weekly community education series offered free (donations appreciated) by All Brains Belong VT. Join us to learn about "everyday brain life" stuff – how we interact, learn, work, and live. Register to attend live or to receive the recording to watch anytime (see below for details).

Information and registration:

*Sun May 1: 5PM - Is Your Workplace Inclusive of All Brains? Neuro-DEI Tips for Employers & Employees (Community Panel)
1 in 5 people learn, think, or communicate differently than the so-called "typical" brain. That's a lot of people! Most neurodivergent adults don't actually have specific "diagnoses" or formal accommodations. That's why universal design is best practice. Learn from our community panelists about what works and does not work to create a workplace environment / culture where all brains belong.

*Sun May 8: 5PM - "Mother's Day": Keys to the Universe as Learned from Turning Red. (Melissa Houser, MD)
By request of our Brain Club regulars, this experimental session will attempt to shine a light on complex parent-child relationships via analysis of the Disney movie, "Turning Red."

NEW SPRING SCHEDULE -- Switching to Thursdays 6PM ET: "Dinner & A 'Brain Club'"

Bring your dinner! Optional video on / video off.

*Thurs May 12: Brain Club for Kids - Being Your True Self (Melissa Houser MD)
Kids take in all kinds of messages these days, even when we don't realize it. Building a strong self-concept is essential for kids' mental health. What do I like? What do I not like? Where do I feel safe? With whom do I feel safe? We'll take a look at popular media characters to apply this framework.

*Thurs May 19: What Do You Wish School Was Like? Collecting Ideas from Kids & Families (Winnie Looby, Ph.D.)
Have you ever daydreamed about the perfect school day? A day when you were excited to go to school. What would your classroom look like? What would be for lunch in the cafeteria? What would you be learning about? Please join us to discuss these questions, and more!

*Thurs May 26: Dyslexia Across the Lifespan (Community Panel)
20% of people are dyslexic. Let's talk about the real deal about dyslexia, and hear from a panel of community members of a wide range of ages to hear about their lives.
