Connected Community Creemee Ride!

Past event
May 31, 2014

Join us May 31 from 1-2pm for a fun ride from the Town Offices up to Archie’s for a free creemee and back through connected communities as the wrap up to the BikeFest. Led by Shelburne Police Officer, Clyde Yarnell, this ride will start at the Town Offices, go through the parking lot to the Train Station and out to Harbor Road. A right on Harbor Road will put the group in the best position to turn left onto Route 7. The group will then ride on the sidewalk along Route 7 up to Archie’s Grill. After a free creemee break for all participants, we will then head down Longmeadow, take a right onto Deer Run and then another right onto a primitive path that will take us over a small bridge before we enter the Farmstead neighborhood. We'll go through the Farmstead neighborhood and turn right onto the Webster Road bike path, then back to the Route 7 sidewalk to Falls Road. Crossing at the light in the town center, we will then take the sidewalk around the green, past Jamie Two Coats and the Heart of the Village Inn to end at the Farmer's Market. We'll cross people who want to cross back to the Town offices.

This ride will give you the experience of riding along many different types of environments in our town: sidewalk next to a busy road, neighborhood streets, primitive path through the woods, multi-use bike path and sidewalk through the village center.

We will take our time and make sure that all participants feel safe and comfortable on our ride. We hope this experience will help you think about the types of riding opportunities you would like to see more of in our village and how our riding infrastructure can help us become a more connected community! Helmets are required!

Also at the bike fest: local path and riding information, helmet fitting, helmet decorating, Kids Learn to Ride program, free Bike Tune Ups, and a DIY Bike Swap. Check out the website changinggearsvt.blogspot.com for specific times, pre-registration, and more information.
