Join us for a first step toward caring for the Pine Street Barge Canal — wild land in the heart of the South End of Burlington.
The Pine Street Barge Canal is an urban wetland and forest. Due to dumping of industrial toxic waste throughout much of the 20th century, it was designated as a federal Superfund site some decades ago. Since then, the land has largely been left alone – and is slowly healing itself.

On Saturday, May 7, we will gather a big crew to start to pull the years (or decades) of accumulated garbage out of the woods at the Barge Canal.
We will be working from 9 AM to 4 PM, rain or shine. Come for an hour or stay all day. Come alone and make new friends, or assemble a crew to work together. Please wear appropriate clothes (long pants, long-sleeved shirt, sturdy boots, hat). Bring work gloves and safety glasses if you have them and water to drink. Lunch will be provided by the People's Kitchen.
This Green Up Day, let's start as a community to reclaim this public asset.
