Green-Up Day at Amtrak Station & Multi-Use Path: May 7

Past event
May 7, 2022, 9 to 10:30 AM

Saturday, May 7th: Neighbors and friends of the Central/Grove Street area in Essex Junction invite everyone to join us on Green-Up Day for a cleanup of the area around the Amtrak Station and the Multi-Use Path that runs between Amtrak and Essex High School. This effort enhances enjoyment of the path for walkers and bicyclists, and the impression of rail travelers of our community.

Neighbors and friends plan to gather at the Amtrak Station – Essex Junction from 9 AM to 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 7. Here are some of the things we will do: pick up trash, of course; rake leaves and debris from the rain garden along the multi-use path; collect fallen limbs; and trim overgrowth from rain garden plantings. The rain garden keeps run-off from reaching the Winooski River and Lake Champlain. Given the resumption of accessibility construction around the station, we will limit our efforts around the platform. Of course, there is always more to do!!

If you have a rake, gloves, clippers, or other tools useful in a clean-up, please bring them. Most importantly, bring your team!! We will plan to have snacks to keep the workers fueled up!!

Thanks to Rick Jones and his Team at the Essex Junction Public Works Department for their support in hauling away what we pile up.

Hope to see you on Saturday – May 7 – no need to sign up, just show up. Boy scouts, community service club members, and all others are welcome. If you have a question, drop me a note.
