There is not too much time left to enjoy the winter splendor of trees before all those distracting leaves come out and blur the scene. If you would like to firm up your tree identification skills, for any season, come out for a tree walk at the Community Forest on May 8th. The good variety of species will be in various stages of development at this time. In addition to identification by bark, form, and habitat, we will use buds, branches, and tree flowers when available. This 1.5 mile walk will give us a better feel for the diverse habitats and forest succession that make this place so interesting. It will be an exciting time of year to be in the woods, with much to see in addition to trees.
The walk will take place May 8th at 10:00, and is limited to 12 people, ages 12 and up. It will start from the school parking lot. Please sigh up through the library, at hpl@gmavt.net, or by calling there at 802-434-4583.
