Did you know April is Alcohol Awareness month? Are you interested in learning about youth substance prevention and how to support healthy and successful kids and teens? Come to see Jessica Lahey, author and expert on the subject, on April 27th at 6:30 pm in the Stowe High School auditorium. Please preregister at: https://www.healthylamoillevalley.org/jessica-lahey/ (This is helpful, but not required).

Jessica Lahey will be sharing from her recent book - The Addiction Inoculation: Raising Healthy Kids in a Culture of Dependence. She will speak on how to approach talking with youth about substance issues, how to instill critical thinking and decision making, and why doing such is important. After her talk, there will also be time for questions and follow up conversation.

Many thanks to Bear Pond Books for having extra copies of Lahey's books available for purchase in store and at the event. Lahey will be signing books at the event.

The event speaks to serious content, however youth are welcome and encouraged to attend with parents/caregivers. This creates opportunities for active and open conversations around a sometimes difficult topic.

Jessica Lahey is the New York Times bestselling author of The Addiction Inoculation: Raising Healthy Kids in a Culture of Dependence and The Gift of Failure: How the Best Parents Learn to Let Go So Their Children Can Succeed. Importantly, she is a parent and understands the struggles of connecting with youth in the current world about the dangers of substance misuse and addiction. She has also taught in private and public schools from sixth to twelfth grade, as well as in recovery centers for youth. At Sana at Stowe, she is a recovery coach and continues to play an active role in creating a healthy culture.

We will be going by current covid protocols. This is a mask-friendly event. Many thanks to the Lamoille South Supervisory Union and the Lamoille Restorative Center for co-sponsoring the event. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Jessica Bickford of Healthy Lamoille Valley, jessica@heatlhylamoillevalley.org. We look forward to the event and seeing our community members.
