Middletown Springs, VT
Hosted by Coverts Cooperators Juanita Burch-Clay and Sarah Grimm.
Join us for a walk to hunt for spring ephemeral wildflowers and learn how to identify them using the iNaturalist app. If you are curious about the plants and animals you see around you, but you don't want to carry a library of field guides in your pack, the iNaturalist app is for you! It is an easy way to identify and record your observations with a phone (or other device).
If you haven't used iNaturalist before, we will help you set it up in advance, and we will practice using it during our walk. If you are already using iNaturalist, this is a chance to practice with support.
This is an outing of moderate difficulty. Depending on the conditions, we'll be walking along farm roads, up steep fields, and through woods in search of emerging spring plants such as trout lily and ramps. We can't predict what will be blooming this particular day, but we'll be using iNaturalist to identify whatever we see. A lovely view and a picnic opportunity will end the workshop.
To register, email your name and phone number to Juanita at burchclay@gmail.com. Directions and more details will be sent out later in the month. Learn about Vermont Coverts at www.vtcoverts.org.
