Chittenden Asylum Seekers Assistance Network (CASAN)
New house, and license and jobs – oh my!! This winter has been an amazingly productive time for the families whom we support. Our grassroots non-profit group of volunteers in Chittenden County assists local families who are in the legal process of seeking asylum in our country.
You are invited to our quarterly virtual gathering to hear inspiring stories of these wonderful people as they build new lives in safety in our communities. You'll learn also about current obstacles that they and other asylum seekers face, and advocacy work being done in response. And you'll get an overview of the wide range of what volunteers are doing, as well as current needs and practical ways you can join in welcoming our new neighbors.
Register in advance:

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with information about joining the meeting.
Asylum seekers, unlike refugees, are not allowed to receive many kinds of government assistance, nor are they are allowed to work until reaching a certain point in the asylum process. And so CASAN has fully supported several families for all living expenses, assisted other households in significant ways, and has impacted the lives of even more through our statewide network with similar groups. It is much needed – and very rewarding – work.
Hope to see you there!
