Dibden Center for the Arts Presents Hair the Musical

Past event
Apr 21, 7 PM to 9:30 PM, Apr 24, 2022

This Thursday through Saturday (April 21-23) at 7 pm and Sunday, April 24 at 2 pm join us at Dibden Center for the Arts for our first musical in three years!

Hair:
In 1967, a group of hope-filled friends gather in NYC to protest injustice and await the dawning of a world where freedom and equality are truly for all. But the Vietnam War rages, drafting a generation of young men into violence, and the long-simmering battle for civil rights approaches the boiling point. The price of freedom might be innocence.

The mainstage spring musical, Hair, is here! This epic rock musical documents important social movements of the late sixties: the anti-Vietnam War movement, second-wave feminism, black power, and the decriminalization of drugs. This show celebrates rebellion, universal love, sexual freedom, and joy.

Producing this classic period show in 2022, Polaris Performance Company asks: what are we still fighting for fifty-five years later? What blind spots and harms did the white-led hippie movement miss? What comes after the Age of Aquarius?

Join us at Dibden Center for groovy music, youthful passion, critical conflicts, and dreams of a better world – let down your Hair and let the sunshine in!

Content Disclosures: This show contains strong language and swearing, racial epithets and slurs, depictions of domestic violence, transphobic and homophobic themes, frank discussions of warfare, sexuality, and the depiction of drug use.
