Join us at Ranch Camp / Backyard this Sunday April 24th to celebrate Earth Day with a one day celebration of bikes, sustainability, the gear we use to enjoy our passions, and the wonderful makers behind it all!
In collaboration with Sterling College, Rasputitsa Gravel, and Dirt Church Brewing, the first annual Gear Makers Festival includes a gravel ride, a makers fair, and a gear repair clinic, along with the unveiling of an amazing new beer! The makers fair and repair clinic are both free and open to the public, the entry fee for the gravel ride is $65 with a portion of proceeds going to support Sterling College's gear repair program. This 32mi gravel ride is packed with scenery, misty class IV roads, and all the vert you'd expect from a ride in Stowe! 35 participants will be selected at random and receive $65 off 2023 Rasputitsa entry! Stop, snack and imbibe at the Dirt Church aid station with a stellar lineup of local food and beverage products from Untapped Maple, Kate's Real Food, Cabot Creamery, Vermont Smoke & Cure, and Cold Hollow Cider. Return to Ranch Camp and the Backyard for an apres meal (included in ticket price) and the Makers Fair!
Field Repair Kit Clinic - Free

Anna Dye, a Sterling College student, and Josh Bossin, Faculty member will be co-leading a field repair clinic with help of other Sterling Work Program students. Participants can expect to learn what to carry in a basic field gear repair kit and how to use those items. Participants will make a small stuff sack to become their field repair kit and leave with the kit complete and filled with starter repair goodies. Skills include: nylon patching, hand sewing, buckles, and more. Free of charge event.
Gear Repair Station - Free

Free gear repair services (open for length of event, first come first served, donations welcome). Visitors to the event can come to the repair booth with outdoor gear/clothing to be repaired for free. We will prioritize completing as many repairs as possible. All items must be clean! Common repair types we accept: Stuck or misaligned zippers, nylon with rips, puffy coat holes, broken backpack buckles and straps, seam failures. Some stoves, tents, snowshoes and other hard goods can be repaired on a case by case basis. Sorry no jeans, workwear, worn out knees, etc.
