Join the Vermont Youth Orchestra on Sunday, May 1 at 3:00pm for East Meets West. Celebrate the passion and dedication of classical music's next generation in the final concert of the season, featuring works from the West alongside their Eastern-European counterparts. VYO shines a spotlight on cellist Celilo Bauman-Swain, who performs Elgar's brilliant cello concerto in her Senior Solo performance. The orchestra also performs a world premiere by young Vermont composer Katya Mueller in partnership with Music-COMP (Music Composition Online Mentoring Program).
In addition, the orchestra members will perform the beautiful Ukrainian Melody in A Minor by Myroslav Skoryk. They have elected to use this opportunity to fundraise for Ukrainian refugees from the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, in order to help them gather in Slovenia to study together with the Slovenia Youth Orchestra.
