Underhill's 250th birthday committee is having a burial Saturday, June 7 atop Casey's Hill on Pleasant Valley Road in Underhill Center.
During a brief ceremony starting at noon that day, we'll bury a 7-foot, 30-inch wide concrete vault, sealed for posterity, on top of the popular sliding hill during a brief ceremony. Among the 400 plus contemporary items in the capsule will be letters from town school children musing on what life might be like 50 years from now, when, we hope, the capsule will be dug up in an appropriate ceremony. All the items have been sealed in archival waterproof bags to preserve them.
This will be the final act of the committee that organized and ran the successful town party last year on the 250th anniversary of Underhill's founding in 1763.
Come on out and watch.
