I have recently learned my Mom has stage 3 Alzheimer's - In an attempt to spare his children's concern, my Dad covered up the signs. Imagine how we might have spent time with Mom had we known she was going to "fade away". Early awareness may have given early opportunity to allow her to participate in plans for the later stages when neither she or we may understand her wishes. Make every moment count and help policy makers understand what they can do now to advance understanding and one day a cure.
Have you or your family been touched by Alzheimer's or another dementia? Do you want to learn more about the impact of Alzheimer's on Vermont and Vermonters?
The Older Vermonters Caucus, made up of legislators, advocates, and organizations who support older Vermonters, will be discussing this issue at their upcoming meeting. I encourage anyone interested to join the zoom meeting to learn more, ask questions, or share your story.
