Our meeting will begin at 6:30pm with an expected executive session to update the Council on union bargaining. This update to the Council is expected to conclude at 7pm when we will continue with our agenda.

Following public forum, which begins at 7:30, and any climate emergency reports, we will move to our deliberative agenda which includes:

• A communication from the Department of Public Works on the Champlain Parkway project.
• Two ordinances that relate to Short-term Rentals or STRs. As you may recall, the Council passed an ordinance last month on STRs which was vetoed by the mayor. The veto was sustained. Councilor Sarah Carpenter had offered an amendment which I supported that was a reasonable and middle ground approach which was defeated 6-6. The ordinances on Monday evening would be a 'first reading' and effectively include the Carpenter amendment and would be referred to our Ordinance Committee with a request to return to the Council for a vote by June 1. It is hoped we can find greater compromise and move this ordinance forward after further committee work.
• A resolution regarding retaining fare free public transportation and avoiding service reduction on the City's bus lines from Green Mountain Transit.
• The last item is a communication from the City Attorney's office on the annual report on the Livable Wage Ordinance.

As always, I welcome your questions, concerns, and comments, so please be in touch. Your voice matters and I am grateful for your input.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

My best,
Karen
