Hello again, Washington Central residents:
Here's a bit more information about the school district's next community forum on Wednesday at 6pm.
The district has received a good-sized chunk of federal Rescue Plan funding, called ESSER funds, to support our kids and schools in dealing with effects of the pandemic. The funds can be used for four "pillars," all of which are important, relevant to our community and somewhat flexible: Social Emotional Learning, Mental Health, and Well-being; Student Engagement and Truancy; Academic Achievement and Success; and Safe and Healthy Operations.
We have verified that there is still some opportunity to influence the use of the funds -- especially if you can offer new ideas and new voices!
Meanwhile, we'll keep "in the room" the voices and ideas some of you have so eloquently shared in previous forums. Quite a few of your ideas HAVE shown up in the district the past couple of years -- including increasing social work and health services, arts education, the Equity Scholar position and outdoor classrooms. But of course, there are other important ways to support our students now and into the future.
Come share your perspective, learn more about the district's current and planned uses of the funds, ask questions, and offer ideas for future use. The forum begins at 6:00 p.m. It is a hybrid meeting that will take place both in the U-32 cafeteria and via Zoom.

(Note: it seems that occasionally public meetings need to change their links at the last minute because of zoom security. If this happens, look at the board website for a new one or email a board member. https://www.wcsu32.org/domain/272 )
Miss the meeting? Feel free to check in after...
