There is a Montpelier-Roxbury Board of School Directors meeting this Wednesday, April 6th, at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Montpelier High School library or you can participate virtually via Zoom.

At this week's meeting, the MRPS Board will receive the annual presentation on the "state of the facilities" (all 4 schools) across MRPS from district Facilities Director, Andrew LaRosa.
First, the board will vote on whether to commit $1.5 million of the district's fund balance to renovate the MHS track. Roxbury, do you want to provide feedback in advance of Wednesday's meeting regarding this potential commitment of funds? We're here to listen! Apologies for the short notice; while this project has been on our radar, the opportunity to commit funding just came up last week.
Last spring, MHS students from an enrichment class made an excellent presentation to the board (1) providing history on MHS/MSMS track & field and (2) advocating for a track upgrade. Both MHS and MSMS had T&F programs in 2021, with 30 and 50 participants respectively. It was heartening to hear about the positive impact the opportunity has had on students - physical health, mental well being, community building, and a program accessible to many. A recent project feasibility study conducted by a 3rd party engineering firm determined the track renovation project is feasible; design ideas, permit requirements, and an estimated cost was provided. We have also received emails from students and parents in support of this project.
Does this expenditure represent your vision, values, and priorities for the district? Do you have questions about the project? If your family accesses the current T&F programs, we would love to hear from you! We would also like to hear from any Roxbury families/students (at MSMS, MHS) with regard to transportation for Montpelier-based afterschool programming (athletics, enrichment, etc.).
