The Vermont Physicians for a National Health Program is sponsoring a forum Tuesday, April 5 at 7 PM concerning the privatization of Medicare. Instead of improving Medicare by reducing deductibles and copays, or adding hearing, vision or dental coverage, Medicare is in the process of eliminating traditional Medicare as we know it. Legally, Without the consent of patients nor the approval of Congress, the Trump administration began this privatization scheme in 2019: Traditional Medicare is being turned over to venture capital firms, which will be providing "managed care' services to individuals who elect to remain in traditional Medicare. This will entail the familiar delays and denials of care we're accustomed to seeing with managed care. After receiving a great deal of negative public feedback on the program, we'd thought that the Biden administration would eliminate the new program. However that does not appear to be the case. There will need to be yet more public outcry to roll back this ill-advised scheme.
