I *strongly* encourage SES parents & caregivers to attend the meet & greet with the finalist of the SES principal search this Mon April 4 at 5:30PM (full details below). It is our collective responsibility to ensure that we recruit the outstanding leader, administrator, and educator that our kids & the wonderful SES teachers deserve.
I share the concerns of many in the SES community who are surprised to be presented with only one finalist. I'm hopeful and open-minded, but also concerned the brief bio does not articulate *any* prior experience either as a principal or inside of an elementary school.
Please - please! - participate in the conversation on Mon @ 5:30PM. This decision impacts the soul of our community, so let's invest the time & heart to listen, learn, and provide feedback.

Dear SES Community,
We'd like to provide an update regarding the principal search for our new Stowe Elementary leader. The interview team, composed of parents, teachers, one paraprofessional, and two administrators participated in a thorough process and ended up interviewing five candidates on Monday, March 28th. The pool of candidates was strong, but two individuals really stood out and were selected unanimously to move on in the selection process. Of the two candidates, one was from New Hampshire and elected to not move forward after careful consideration and discussion with her family.
We are thrilled that Maura Wieler is our finalist and will be moving on to the next phase of the interview process. Maura is currently the Lamoille South Proficiency Based Learning and Technology Integration Coach and has held the role of teacher and administrator for the past eleven years in our district. She has also served as an adjunct faculty member for St. Michael's College and has completed the Vermont Leadership Institute through the Snelling Center for Government.
The next step for Mrs. Wieler is to spend Monday, April 4th, at Stowe Elementary where she will tour the school, connect with students, and participate in another in-depth interview with the committee. Maura will also participate in a forum with the faculty and staff from 3:15-4:00PM and also with parents / caregivers from 5:30 - 6:15PM.
All SES community members will have an opportunity to provide feedback via a Google Form that will be part of the registration process for the events. You are also invited to submit questions prior to the forums with this link.
We thank you for your support in this search and invite you to please join the next phase of this very important hiring process.
