Coming up Thursday on Central Vermont Community Radio - Gas prices, electricity prices, and the growing attractiveness of electric cars, plus the case for community radio.
9:00 - 10:00 am
Gas prices were rising before Russia invade Ukraine, and they have seen spikes since then. Is this increasing the attractiveness of electric vehicles (EVs)? Why are car manufacturers pushing EVs—most of the car ads on the Super Bowl were for EVs? Is the electric version of the F-150 pickup, the most popular vehicle in Vermont, a game changer? And what game changers are needed, really, to get four times as many EVs on the road in Vermont by 2025, which is what would be needed to meet the state's climate action plan? Dave Roberts of Drive Electric Vermont will answer these and other questions.

In 2021, Central Vermont Community Radio took over management of beloved stations WGDR/WGDH from Goddard College. Community-ownership has meant dealing with all the issues of a start-up nonprofit, while maintaining a nearly 50-year-old station. Llu Mulvaney-Stanak joined WGDR/WGDH during the community ownership transition, becoming station manager in the fall of 2021. Llu started in community radio with their own WGDR show at the age of 13, co-founded a low-power community radio station in Burlington, 99.3 FM, WBTV-LP, and has been a weekly programmer on WRUV, UVM's college/community station, since 2004. Also joining us will be Kate Blofson, who worked with the Prometheus Radio Project building radio stations around the country. This will preview a longer talk on the value of community radio that Llu will give at the Montpelier Grange and online on Saturday.
