Peacham Congregational Church hosts a performance of Stabat Mater, by Giovanni Pergolesi (1736) featuring Ellie Blachly (soprano), Betsy Brigham (mezzo-soprano), and Alison Bruce Cerutti (piano). The Stabat Mater Dolorosa hymn, one of the most powerful and immediate of extant medieval poems, meditates on the suffering of Mary, Jesus Christ's mother, during his crucifixion. Pergolesi's setting of the work is divided into twelve movements, each named after the incipit of the text.
The performance will follow a Maundy Thursday church service, which commences at 5:45 pm.
Please join us for the service, the concert, or both.
